Monday, October 5 The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has released its top 81 "Guidelines on the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising. "This is the first update in the 'Guide' under the FTC Act since 1980 and the changes are the result of" ongoing review Regulatory Commission of all instructions and guidelines in force. "Updates approved by the Federal Trade Commission shall enter into force on December 1 this year.
These new rules are much deeper than just internet marketing. They are important for all those involved in marketing products and services to the United States, regardless of whether online or offline. On the web marketing, including the new "Guide" affect on all paid market, approving, recommending, reviewing, or advertise a product promoted online in the U.S. This means that as owner of a commercial site, blogger, writer, article, article editor, the affiliate marketing mlm networker and paid endorser, shows (ie, a celebrity, a member of joint venture, "guru", or other) should be able to verify all claims that you or others not to sell or endorse products. You should also you are an advertiser has paid endorser or even medical testimony is paid to "free" products instead of money. The rules apply to everyone in the supply chain, the manufacturer of the product, the producer, owner, an advertising agency, paid endorser, distributor, retailer, affiliate, etc. You should be aware that the new "Guide to" rule to all products / services advertised. This includes products from other countries. The FTC lacks the legal authority outside the United States, but it can and must apply the rules on ethics into question the foreign vendors who advertise and sell online USA
So why federal suddenly change the rules of marketing in the midst of a global recession? This is an ominous "An order world "plot made by Freemasons bad? Is the government to abolish free enterprise? Since Uh ... not for them and Other conspiracy theories floating around start wacko.
Firstly there is nothing sudden about it all. The Commission initiated its review of the regulatory over the last two and a half years with a public notice inviting comments on the key elements of "Guide". It was followed by a second request for public comment. Now, taking into account the millions of products sold and bought by millions of people and billions of dollars spent annually advertising you'd think the FTC would have been flooded with comments. Yes, well, not exactly. A total of thirty-nine businesses and people took worth commenting on the towers. It's pathetic people, if you're ready to fight with the changes ... Do not. You and all the others slept in case.
Second, in the marketing arena of the FTC is basically responsible for both. A) Protection of American Consumers misleading advertising and 2) to maintain fair trade and fair competition, maintaining a level field for businesses. The industry marketing, and especially the Internet marketing industry, has refused to grow with responsibility and self-regulation. We all know that the print media, Satellite TV infomercials, the Internet is night and ugly with the lies of deception, fraud snake oil of all kinds. For my part, I am very pleased with the FTC responded to the business address.
Now the Commission has legal legs to stand, perhaps Business fair to compete fairly and make a profit in Internet marketing. Any thought on this? The Comments are appreciated.
