Microsoft seems to do everything possible to regain control of the computer world. With more people turning to the elegant designs and Apple products Internet from the cooler "in browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, the battlefield has moved to cyberspace. And the latest addition to Microsoft's growing arsenal, the Silverlight technology, could well be the case.
Which brings us to the question, what exactly Silverlight technology? Well, one thing is sure, it's just a fancy name.
Silverlight is a browser plug-programmable Web by allowing media to be played over the Internet. This plug-in gives users the opportunity to listen to audio, watch videos and animations which are abundant in Internet applications. Basically, it is a competitor to Adobe Flash Player and while similar, are not exactly the same.
Specifications
Developed under the codename Windows Presentation Foundation / Everywhere (WPF / E), which allows integration audio, video and interactivity in a single execution, as the Windows Presentation Foundation does. Working together with XAML, the contents of a Silverlight application can index and search through the search engines.
Content-wise, it supports the usual range of WMV WMA and MP3 files without Windows Media Player Active X control or even Windows Media Player plug-in. This makes a one-stop Media Center for Internet and eliminates the need to download plug-ins for the same application.
Silverlight is compatible with Windows Vista Home and Professional Edition and Windows Mobile 6. Users Mac can also download this plug-in, which can be used on Mac OS.
For the average user
The specifications might be logical for a web developer, but what about the average man in the street? Internet users are often concerned about if the site you visit is made in Flash or Silverlight. How does it affect them?
Well, for one thing, Silverlight application may be much more searchable. As mentioned previously, the Silverlight content is displayed on screen via text-based markup language called XAML. Although this might not make much sense for the average user, which makes major search engines like Google or Yahoo. Unlike Flash sites that the engines research can not dive into the Silverlight content will be available the results of research like any other text on a web page.
In addition, Users opting for platforms and less common browsers like Firefox and Google Chrome, this plug-in to do well in them, since most applications Internet to run on popular platforms. And although Microsoft is not tread water in general Mac and other operating systems, Most web developers have been tested positive for the first Silverlight criticism which opens up many possibilities.
And these opportunities are already evident in the Microsoft products. Match.com has already created a function that allows users to chat with them on the Internet without using a third messenger. Video sites like Netflix and CBS.com unveiled new video players that have additional features. For example, synchronization two videos from two different users that gives them the feeling of watching a Netflix movie together.
The Silverlight technology is now available for download on select platforms. And although it is still new, promises to be an important part of Internet applications in the future.

WPF button only works when clicking on content?
Using c# windows form, hosting a wpf user control, the buttons on the user control only allow a click on the content of the button, but not on the button's blank space. Is there a property that changes this?
Have you got the click handler on the content rather than the button? I tend to code buttons as:
You might have:
(Although that seems unlikely, but it's possible.)
I'm always caught out by windows that don't have a fill, even a transparent fill, associated with them. If it isn't painted, it isn't clickable!
