Can an OST safely exceed 2 GB?
My company is venturing into the housing. My Admin Exchange is satisfied that if an OST gets over 2 GB to be destroyed. I searched and found that Outlook 2003 before there was a limitation 2 GB, but that was removed and the file structure has been re-written. Microsoft's website were the default maxsize to 20 GB of files OST Outloof and 2010 is 50 GB. I brought my Exchange Management continued to insist that corrupt if it exceeds 2 GB Why did MS set the maxsize to 20 GB to 50 GB and Outlook 2003/2007 back if it was cause for concern? We have a client that has some OST that are in the range of 5-10GB and are now worried about losing your e-mail offline. Anyone have any experience with this file size? Problems? Recommendations?
Yes - Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010, Microsoft changed the file type OST and PST files to ANSI (which had a limit of 2 GB) Unicode file format. You are correct, Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 with a capacity of 20 GB of files. It seems that if the Exchange administrator has not kept abreast of changes.
