Just goes to show that no new versions of anything, Microsoft SharePoint Services version 3.0 is loaded with many features not available in version 2.0. One of them is the Almighty Recycle Bin.
However, although we believe that the trash is a standard feature All programs have not always been so. In the version of SharePoint Services 2.0 Trash was absent, meaning that if the element in the portal, left, and the only recovery was that his host SharePoint restore all the backup site if they do not have to download local copies. It was a bit dangerous when deleting files.
The Recycle Bin is configured in two stages, the first step is the first time document or image of a list item is deleted by a user and placed on hold. At this stage, deleted documents can still be recovered, but only the user who performed the disposal. The second step is called the collection sites for recycling, where administrators Site can not access its contents.
To access the contents of the magazine recycling is what we have to do:
On its website, Click Site Actions Site Settings then.
On the configuration page in the Management of the collection of the Web ", click on the trash
With SharePoint Services 3.0 are several configuration options with the trash, including the duration of each stage of the Recycle Bin has content as well as fees for space the second step. The parameters of quota space is important, because if you're on a shared hosting environment, content Recycle Bin and eating disk space.
Dedicated hosting administrators to have access to all parameters to adjust retention time content and space quotas. If you're in a SharePoint shared hosting environment, talk to your service provider on how to create a custom configuration, if your default settings do not work for you. In the case of home my SharePoint site, the two stages of my trash is carried out for 30 days, and I contacted my service provider to share my room in my second stage will not exceed 50%. (I confess that I am a little worry wart to lose valuable documents.)
In any case you look, the Recycle Bin is a great feature and a great safety net to save documents.

, Who is a better system for web portal. Nuke NET or Microsoft SharePoint or rainbow?
Our portal is hosted on a 3rd party and we would spend at home. We examine the options that can leverage our core Visual Basic.Net Programmer. Thank you!
You know, I not really an answer to your question yet. Just a word of thanks to me on DotNetNuke. I was the development and implementation implement Web sites and SharePoint Portal Team since the beta release in early 2001. And we are the magic point of maturity where you can walk into any Which group or internal IT department, who have already played with bases of operation on their own initiative and are now ready to enter a professional, clean up what they did, and deploy a unified look in the departments can take it from there. Not that DotNetNuke or Rainbow (I could not find) will not be comparable solutions, I remember when I had a couple of weeks playing with DotNetNuke. But I can say in a harsh experience, which has been an uphill battle to convince first customers to roll with SharePoint until it had a certain critical mass, that Microsoft so graciously supported by the Windows SharePoint Services to 2003 server license, effectively flooding the market. Customers are what they are released box, you realize the potential becomes difficult for the budget or the number of head for the task to someone on full-time implementation Portal which came to be regarded as a generic solution of the departments. Until recently, the path of least resistance has been managing a fairly intuitive analysis of needs, locked in room for days, and return with a functional, if not completely filled, Thay site demonstration may lead to senior management. And you must show a lot of features and potential, they will not admit they need until I saw movement. Many people there still think in terms of unique development, HTML, and perhaps a Java applet, click here and there. I dig the open source aspect of DotNetNuke, and have done a few sites in ASP.net 2.0 pure, and what I see so far, seems to comparable SharePoint solution, or at least SharePoint Services. When you run into issues is the support and maintenance, and most importantly, ease of use and level of comfort in the absence of technical personnel will be deployed when the thing every day and fill with fresh, useful content, and data. After all, the goal here, generally, is bringing people together to collaborate again, to discover the media and give them access to information and exposure will change the way they do business, and its acceptance and embrace the corporate culture for the better. Of course, you can exploit the talent you already enviable inhouse for ASP and Visual Basic. NET to create a stellar solution to the powers that be. But the real problem and is almost universally explanatory IT and development groups around the world, is the ease of use, and barriers to spontaneous improvement, the spark or passion silencing power users and non-IT staff by the company to the next level. SharePoint has reached the level where these people can, with a litle direction and encouragement, be aimed at all types of places where they can get their hands on parts of the Web, RSS, and Web services, which may fall into the right-littlle piece of real estate and wow the people around them, adding value to their own internal customer base or external consumers of any information or services have been responsible for producing. And all this without the aid of, or the budget drain, computer or production Web services. I hope I can say the same thing after building a couple of demonstration sites with DotNetNuke - I foresee to do over the next two weeks. Thank you for making me on DotNetNuke. And good luck to you and your team with the new extranet and portal. If you have questions about SharePoint or comments, please come back to me via MSN or buck@sfsharepoint.info.
